my weight loss journey

This is all about my weight losss journey. I have health problems related to my excess weight. I have many reasons to lose the weight once & for all. I feel I am finally ready to finish this, but I also know how hard this is going to be.
Anyone who wants to be support for each other is welcome to comment. Or maybe you have helpful suggestions, since I'm doing this on my own, I'll welcome any help
Thanks :)

end of week 1 & starting week 2

Well, it's the end of week 1!
I ate low carb, although I did have some slip-ups. I tracked my food through www.myfitnesspal.com  & stayed within my calorie goal most days. I tracked my exercise minutes on www.x-weighted.ca & logged on 6:40. Towards the end of the week, I realized I wasn't drinking enough water & started tracking that on paper.
So all in all I did pretty good & I'm proud of myself! I have to say I wish the scale would have showed more of a loss with all of that hard work I did.
I need to stay focused & to keep patient.
As far as the low-carb diet goes, I need to add MORE veggies. I need to be within my calorie goals on ALL days. I plan to increase my exercise minutes by at least 15min. & finally I need to drink enough water on ALL days.
Let's hope the results of week 2 are better for me :)

Day 2 of challenge

Yesterday I woke up, registered for the national challenge & took the online fitness test. My time was 6:06 & I was exhausted when I finished ! Then I went to the city for the health expo.
I talked to as many people as I could to get some questions answered. I also talked to Fred Conners & had a work-out with Tommy Europe.
This morning I woke up VERY sore but happy. When I stepped on the scale & it said that I lost 1lb., I felt like it's the 1st lb. of many to come off.
I also discovered how hard it is to eat healthy & low carb while away from home. Although I did go to a gas station at one time & bought an apple & a fiber bar.
I made oatmeal this morning for breakfast, with flax & berries on top

Introducing myself

Hello:
I have had a weight problem for about 20 yrs, quitting smoking 9 yrs. ago added more weight & different stresses in my life added more again.
I have tried a few times to lose weight but only added more weight on.  I think maybe I needed more motivation, to stick with it.
So, my asthma had been hard to control for a while. Then, twice last year I had pnemonia, once I was hospitalized in ICU, then I found out later that I was pre-diabetic & my cholesterol was high.
Our 4 grandchildren have all been born in the last 2&1/2 yrs. & they have been a huge motivation since then. Keeping my health as a priority will mean being around with my grandkids for longer.
So, in Sept. of last year I joined a gym & started recording what I ate & how much I exercised etc. & I managed to lose 12lb. My starting weight then was 231 lb. Over Christmas I gained 5lb. which brought me up to 224 lb.  I'm definitely ready to start again, otherwise I know my weight will creep back up & probably more.
Recently I found about the x-weighted national challenge. The challenge starts on Sat. Jan. 15 & goes for 6 months until Jul.15/11
There are lots of prizes & lots of support on the site. They have set my goal at losing 58 lb. I'm so hoping I can lose that much in that time frame!! I want to eventually get down to 150 lb. which will mean a total loss of 81 lb.
I have decided to go low carb to get the weight off. I want to make healthy choices & do things I can sustain for the rest of my life.
Wish me luck

Jan.15 is when I start to change my life to become fit by 50

The x-weighted national challenge will be starting on Jan.15 2011. -  3 more days !!
I have a book to mark down everything I eat, how much water I drink & how much I exercise
I'm registered to the x-weighted site, I just have to re-set my profile on Sat. at 9am
My goal is 58lb. (set by the x-weighted people) in 6 months.
I would like to get down to 150lb. by the time I'm 50 yrs. old, so MY goal is more weight & more of a time limit.
I have to stay motivated for the year & a half to stick with my plan until I'm 50, then of course I have to be able to maintain my weight after that .
